Turning it on
iOS only adds keyboards from the Settings app. Open Settings › General › Keyboard › Keyboards › Add New Keyboard… and choose Pilcrow. The app’s setup guide opens the right page for you.
Switching to it
In any app, press and hold the globe key on the keyboard and pick Pilcrow from the list. A tap on the globe cycles through your keyboards one at a time.
Full Access
Optional, and recommended. It turns on haptic feedback, the clipboard panel and its paste chip, and lets the app display the words the keyboard has learned. It does not give the keyboard internet access, because the keyboard has no networking code. Everything else works with it off. See Privacy.
Deleting a learned word, or a rule
Hold any suggestion on the keyboard to open the list, and swipe a row to forget or block it. In the app, the Dictionary tab shows everything: words, spellings, phrases, corrections you chose, corrections you refused. Each row can be edited or removed. Forget everything clears the lot.
It keeps correcting a word I want
Backspace right after the correction and the word comes back; that pair is then left alone. If it was a word you added by hand and it was changed anyway, write to us with the word and the sentence: that is a bug we want.
It refuses a correction I do want
That happens when you once undid it. Tap the correction in the bar when it is offered, fix the word by hand twice, or simply write the correct form three times, and the refusal is released. The app’s Dictionary tab lists refusals under Corrections, where you can also swipe Allow.
Languages
Turn on the languages you write in the app’s Languages tab. Ones that are not built in download on the spot, over Wi-Fi or cellular. The layout follows the first language in your list; drag to reorder.
Purchases and restores
The three free days start the first time you type with the keyboard, not when you install it, and nothing is charged when they end. To unlock, open the app and choose a plan: a one-time purchase, or a monthly one. To restore a purchase on a new device, open the app, go to Settings › About, and tap Restore purchases.
Cancel or change a subscription in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your device — deleting the app does not cancel one. Refunds are handled by Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com. If a purchase does not appear after a restore, write to us and we will help.
Something else
info@pilcrowtype.com. Tell us the iOS version and, if it is about a correction, the word and the sentence around it. We never need, and never ask for, anything else you typed.
